A page for every nursing home certified by Medicare or Medicaid, built from the federal inspection, staffing, penalty and ownership files, so a family can read a home's record in plain words before choosing it.
Who runs it
NursingHomeClear is a small, independent publisher. It is not owned by, or a front for, any nursing home, chain or placement service. Questions and corrections go to our listings editor, Quentin, at editor@nursinghomeclear.com.
Where the facts come from
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Care Compare files, downloaded whole each month. The current pages use the release with data as of September 1, 2026. Each file, its size and its date are listed on the methodology page.
Editorial standards
- Every figure comes from a CMS file and carries its date. Pages are rebuilt from each monthly release.
- Summary sentences are built from CMS fields and say what was recorded, when, and how serious CMS rated it. We add no adjectives and no verdicts of our own.
- Inspector text is quoted, attributed and dated, never paraphrased into something stronger or softer.
- We do not rank homes or call any home best or worst. Lists are ordered by name, town or a named CMS figure.
- Pages are published by the NursingHomeClear editor desk. Questions and complaints about a page go to the listings editor.
- Errors are fixed and logged on the corrections page.
Independence and money
The site is free to read. No home can pay for its place in any list or for any change to its record. If we ever show a sponsored message, it will be labeled as one, sit apart from the data, and never change the order of a list.
Not medical or legal advice
NursingHomeClear reports what federal inspectors and CMS recorded. It does not tell anyone which home to choose. For help with a decision or a problem in a home, the long-term care ombudsman in your state is free and independent.
