Inspectors wroteBased on observation, interview, and document review, the facility failed to ensure proper infection control practices were followed for 1 of 1 residents (R82) when exiting the residents room with a COVID-19 positive diagnosis during medication observation. This deficient practice had the potential to affect all 84 residents who were currently residing in the facility, staff and visitors. Per the Center for Disease Control (CDC), Transmission-Based Precautions are the second tier of basic infection control and are to be used in addition to Standard Precautions for patients who may be infected or colonized with certain infectious agents for which additional precautions are needed to prevent infection transmission.
