    Inspectors wroteBased on facility policy review, observation, and staff interview, it was determined the facility failed to store food in a sanitary manner on two of two nursing units. (Sandlewood and Birchwood) Review of the facility policy entitled, Foods Brought by Family/Visitors, dated January 3, 2023, revealed perishable food items were to be labeled with the resident's name, the item, and the use-by date. Expired food items were to be discarded. Observation of the pantry on the Sandlewood unit on October 4, 2023, at 12:01 p.m., revealed the inside of the microwave was dirty with multiple areas of dried food splatter. There were four areas where the interior of the microwave had bubbled and were covered with rust spots on each. In the refrigerator, there was a container of chicken noodle soup, a package of cheese slices, two opened bottles of ranch dressing, and an opened bag of snap peas. [...]
